¿Tal vez alguien ahí fuera me pueda ayudar? Resulta que mi madre y yo tenemos una discusión desde los años que pasé en Brasil: ¿son las limas y los limones la misma fruta? He aquí nuestras opiniones divergentes:Yo: tienen nombres, tamaños, colores y sabores diferentes (mi mejor mitad afirma que la caipirinha hecha con limones no es lo mismo, tiene otro aroma ) por lo tanto son frutas diferentes.
Mi madre: las limas son limones verdes.Punto.
He investigado en la red. No he llegado a ninguna conclusión. Me falta consultar el Espasa, a ver si me saca de mi sufrimiento intelectual... Mientras tanto, ¿alguien tiene la respuesta? Le quedaría eternamente agradecida...
Total que nos volvimos a reunir para la cena. La cocinera fui yo y el menú el siguiente:
- Sopa rusa de patatas y puerros (receta)
- Cebollas rellenas (receta)
- Tarta de lima y merengue (receta)
Disfruté mucho preparando esta cena. Cocinando lentamente, concentrándome en cada paso. Relajándome. Es mejor que una aspirina.

Tell your mother I'm sorry, but I have to side with you: Lemons and limes are different fruits altogether. ;-)
They have different scientific names, in fact: here, lemons are Citrus limon but limes are generally Citrus aurantifolia or C. latifolia. You can't plant C. aurantifolia and then pick a lemon from it, and picking a C. limon fruit too early just gets you an unripe lemon, not a lime. ;-)
And anyway, at least with the common lime varieties here, most limes turn orangey rather than lemon yellow if you leave them on the tree too long.
Now can I have some pie?
